In this episode Nicolas attempts to build upon their recent interview with Ms. Allen by talking about The US Policing System and its seriously depraved features in the hands of the ruling class.
“The US policing system is a seriously depraved system that prays on brutalizes and murders people of color and those that are financially ravaged by the equally depraved capitalist system. The two systems are inextricably linked as The Policing system uses militarized tactics to brutality enforce the whims of the ruling class. There are important social needs that must be met that currently fall under the purview of The US policing system. Those needs can be met in radically different ways. The productive path forward is to be a part of the conversation that determines a replacement to the current system. I encourage you to be a part of that conversation and to use what privilege you have to ensure that happens. Simply suggesting modest reforms and foolheartedly taking the bait of those who promise such modest reforms or try to touch up the image of the current system isn’t going to cut it. Taking this one step further perpetuating the idea of a “good cop” is unproductive delusional nonsense. If you can’t get to that place after the events of this week never mind the last several hundred years I don’t know how to help you. I’ve toned this down significantly in an effort to make this somewhat palatable to more people But, I’ll now reduce it to hashtags #ACAB#abolishthepolice#DefundThePolice”

In this episode Nicolas takes the time to examine reformists thinking from FDR to Bernie Sanders. Ultimately they conclude that reformist thinking is a dead end. Much as they might want to believe in it.
In this episode I detail a Chico City Council Meeting where landlords co-opted a discussion on Good Cause Evictions. I talk about how this event has effectively killed all the other policy ideas I’ve been working on up to this point and how this may impact my professional life.
In this episode I give an update on my lobbying efforts and the complicated political scene in Chico. I also talk about my KZFR Show The Big Idea and my efforts to make it better. I also talk about my affiliation with Chico DSA and attending a city council meeting with the group. Finally I finish off by giving an update on my personal life and the lack of dates that I’ve been on.
